The Biden administration, along with several other nations, has committed to tripling nuclear power capacity worldwide to combat climate change. Consequently, uranium is set to remain a pivotal commodity for decades, supported by government incentives and efforts to reduce reliance on Russian uranium supplies. Energy Fuels Inc., the leading uranium producer, is ramping up operations at the Pinyon Plain Mine near the Grand Canyon's South Rim entrance. This mine, located within the newly designated Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukv National Monument, is set to operate for three to six years, covering only 17 acres. The company estimates it will produce at least 2 million pounds of uranium, enough to power the state of Arizona with carbon-free electricity for a year.
