LAKELAND, Fla.- The Lakeland Police Department's newly certified K9, Pantera, made a significant mark this week by aiding in his first major drug bust during a routine traffic stop, leading to the arrest of Antonio Green.

K9 Pantera had just hit the streets of Lakeland with his handler, having recently completed his certification for drug detection. The pair was patrolling when they were called to assist during a traffic stop in the 1500 block of North Florida Avenue on July 2.

Officers initiated the traffic stop around 2:15 p.m. after observing Green committing a traffic infraction. As per standard procedure, K9 Pantera was deployed to sniff around the vehicle for any signs of illegal substances. Pantera quickly indicated the presence of drugs, prompting a thorough search of Green’s vehicle.

The search revealed cocaine hidden in three different locations within the car. Further inspection uncovered amphetamine pills, a substantial amount of cash, and a loaded handgun.
