The suspect, identified as Johnathan Ray Carter, 32, was reportedly in the act of siphoning diesel fuel from the gas station's underground tanks when deputies arrived at the scene around 2:30 AM on Wednesday. Authorities had been alerted to the suspicious activity by a vigilant employee who noticed Carter's unusual behavior and promptly contacted the sheriff's office.
