Suntegrity Skincare Recalls Sunscreen Due to High Mold Levels

Suntegrity Skincare, a Las Vegas-based company, has issued a recall for some of its sunscreen products after testing revealed high levels of mold contamination.

Suntegrity Skincare has recalled nine lots of its Suntegrity Impeccable Skin Sunscreen Foundation in multiple shades. The recall was initiated after detecting a "higher than acceptable microbiological mold count" (aspergillus sydowii) in some tubes. The specific lot numbers affected are: 107IV, 107NU, 109NU, 117BU, 113SA, 114SA, 106BR, and 101MO.

Voluntary Precautionary Measures

As a precaution, Suntegrity Skincare has also voluntarily recalled additional lots of their product, even though recent test results for these lots have come back clear. This decision was made to ensure consumer safety and maintain product integrity.

According to the FDA recall notice, aspergillus sydowii developed over time in one lot of the product. A topical product contaminated with aspergillus sydowii can cause an allergic skin reaction and related symptoms.
