In Glendale, Arizona, the Rolling Stones are set to dazzle a packed house at State Farm Stadium on Tuesday night with their "Hackney Diamonds Tour." The concert kicks off at 8 p.m., but before the legendary band takes the stage, an opening act will fire up the crowd.

Electric Mud, a band deeply connected to rock royalty, has the honor of opening for the Rolling Stones. Founded by brothers Marc and Matt Hansen, the group initially hailed from Staten Island, New York, but now calls San Diego home. Their sound is a tribute to classic rock, drawing heavily from their musical idols, the Rolling Stones, with a loose and old-school rock 'n' roll vibe.

Marc Hansen, the band's co-founder, credits his uncle, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, for inspiring his love for music. At a family gathering, Richards taught him a few basic chords and shared a book about blues legend Muddy Waters. This pivotal moment, combined with Marc's natural passion for music, helped shape Electric Mud's style.

Years later, Marc's aunt, Patty Hansen, who married Richards in 1983, played a key role in getting the band's equipment to the right people, ultimately securing their spot as an opening act for the Stones. "It's not lost on me that I'm lucky," Marc acknowledges. His aunt asked for their music to pass along to the promoters, and after two years, the band was unexpectedly invited to open for the Rolling Stones. "They just came to me and said, 'We want your nephews,'" Marc recalls.

Tuesday night marks a major milestone for Electric Mud, as they'll be playing in front of family and friends. "Tomorrow, expect to be blasted in the face with rock and roll. Loud, fast, hard rock and roll," promises Matt Hansen. While there's a bit of nervous excitement, the band is prepared. "We're rehearsed and ready," says Colton Cori.

David Stagno expressed delight at his parents' enthusiasm, saying, "My parents are so excited. I'm shocked at how excited they are. That’s been a fun little wrinkle, the family getting pumped." Marc Hansen sums up their eagerness: "It’s going to be a short set, but it’s going to be striking hot."

Tuesday night promises to be an unforgettable experience as Electric Mud takes their place among rock and roll legends.
