In North Braddock, Pennsylvania, a typical Sunday morning service took a harrowing turn.

According to Pastor Glenn Germany, the congregation was deeply engrossed in worship, extending the session longer than usual and enjoying a spirited atmosphere. However, an unimaginable event transpired during this time.

"When he reached this point in the service, suddenly I found myself staring down the barrel of a gun. All I could think to do was seek cover," recounted Germany.

Bernard Junior Polite, aged 26, reportedly brandished a firearm at Germany, but fortunately, the weapon malfunctioned, and no shots were discharged.

"That was a true act of God, because under different circumstances, a bullet tends to find its target. Regardless of intention, it could have been catastrophic," shared Clarence McCallister.

Reacting swiftly, McCallister sprang from his seat and tackled Polite.

"I was operating the camera, so all I could discern was someone advancing towards the pulpit, lifting a gun. In that moment, I reacted instinctively, leaping up and seizing him from behind, engaging in a struggle," he recounted.

McCallister emphasized that he didn't hesitate for a moment to intervene.

Despite the chaos, McCallister managed to disarm the assailant while Germany and other attendees subdued him until law enforcement arrived.

Germany briefly conversed with Polite, questioning his motives.

"He couldn't provide a reason for his actions. Even later, during my conversation with him while he was in police custody, he couldn't articulate a coherent explanation," Germany disclosed.

Both Germany and McCallister expressed forgiveness towards Polite, emphasizing their gratitude that no one suffered harm.

"I choose to forgive him. Above all, I'm thankful to God that no one was injured," affirmed McCallister.
