Former Western North Carolina Representative Madison Cawthorn Involved in Collision with Patrol Car, Injuring Florida Trooper: Spokesperson and Witness Reports

Former Congressman Madison Cawthorn, who represented Western North Carolina, has once again found himself in the spotlight due to a collision involving a Florida Highway Patrol car. The incident, which occurred on April 15, resulted in injuries to a trooper, sparking concerns and speculation about Cawthorn's conduct.

While the Florida Highway Patrol did not officially confirm Cawthorn as the driver involved in the collision, details surrounding the event have raised questions about his actions behind the wheel. The collision took place on Interstate 75 in Collier County, involving a 2021 Mercedes reportedly driven by a 28-year-old male from Cape Coral, Florida. Notably, Cawthorn, also 28, had moved to Cape Coral following his unsuccessful reelection bid in 2022, leading to speculation about his potential involvement.

The collision caused minor injuries to the trooper, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the Mercedes was cited for violating Florida's Move Over Law, which mandates motorists to slow down and change lanes when approaching a law enforcement vehicle parked on the shoulder of a highway.

Attempts to reach out to Cawthorn for comment by The Citizen Times were unsuccessful. However, a witness who posted on social media provided her account of the incident, alleging that the Mercedes had been driving aggressively before the collision. The witness, identified as Alethea (@Women2Dc), described seeing Cawthorn in a wheelchair at the scene. Pictures and videos shared by the witness offered further insight into the aftermath of the collision.

Cawthorn's use of a wheelchair stems from a serious car accident in Florida in 2014, where he was a passenger. In a recent Instagram post dated April 3, he reflected on the 10th anniversary of the accident, expressing gratitude for surviving the ordeal. However, this latest incident has raised concerns about his driving behavior and its potential risks.

Throughout his political career, Cawthorn has faced various controversies and legal issues, including multiple driving-related citations and misdemeanor charges. These incidents have led to questions about his judgment and suitability for public office, especially given his history of making inflammatory remarks and engaging in provocative behavior.

During his tenure in Congress, Cawthorn was involved in several scandals and missteps, such as bringing a knife to a school board meeting and making derogatory remarks about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. His unsubstantiated claims about being invited to an orgy in Washington further tarnished his reputation.

In December 2022, Cawthorn was fined $15,000 by the House Ethics Committee for promoting a cryptocurrency in which he had a financial interest, adding to the controversies surrounding his time in office.

Overall, the collision involving a Florida Highway Patrol car has once again raised questions about Madison Cawthorn's behavior and judgment, prompting calls for accountability and transparency regarding his actions on the road.
