Jump-Starting Your Car Battery: An 8-Step Guide

Position the Vehicles:
Drive the working car close to the one with the dead battery. Make sure both vehicles are within approximately two feet of each other, regardless of whether they're parked parallel or facing each other.
Turn Off the Engines:
Prioritize safety by switching off the engines of both vehicles before proceeding with the jump-starting process.
Connect the Positive Clamps:
Grab your jumper cables and connect the positive (usually red) clamp to the positive terminal of the dead battery. Ensure you locate the positive terminals, which might be marked but can sometimes be inconspicuous.
Attach the Negative Clamps:
Connect the negative (often black) clamp of the jumper cable to the negative terminal of the live battery. For the dead battery, attach the negative clamp to an unpainted metal surface within the car for a secure connection.
Prioritize Safety:
Ensure you follow the correct sequence when connecting the positive cables to the batteries. Start with the dead battery to prevent safety hazards. If you're unsure or feel unsafe, don't hesitate to seek professional assistance.
Start the Working Car:
Turn on the engine of the working vehicle and let it run for a few minutes to charge the dead battery adequately.
