Influencer Jasmine Yong says her 2-year-old son drowned while she and her husband were napping

Malaysian influencer Jasmine Yong has shared the devastating news that her 2-year-old son, Enzo, tragically died earlier this month after drowning in a hotel pool. Yong revealed the heartbreaking details on Instagram, accompanied by images from what appears to be Enzo’s memorial service.

The tragedy occurred on Mother’s Day when Enzo wandered out of the family’s hotel room while Yong and her husband, Lim Kong Wang, were napping. The family was staying at the hotel as part of their Mother’s Day celebration, which makes the loss even more poignant.

“Our baby Enzo has gone up to be a happy little angel and is no longer suffering or in pain,” Yong wrote in a Chinese-language caption, translated to English.

Enzo, who was frequently featured in Yong’s social media content, was on the bed snuggling with his parents before the incident. After drinking some milk, the child fell asleep. “We then also took a nap,” Yong recounted. When the couple woke up, they discovered Enzo was no longer beside them.

They soon noticed that the originally locked door to an area with an indoor swimming pool had been opened. Rushing to the pool area, they found Enzo unresponsive in the water. Yong immediately performed CPR on the boy, who did not respond. She wrote that they were unable to call for help from the hotel room due to poor service, and that Lim Kong Wang opened the hotel room door and called for help, but no one responded.

The couple hurriedly carried Enzo to the hotel lobby and pleaded with the hotel employees to help call an ambulance and perform emergency aid until the ambulance arrived. “Thirty minutes later, after transporting Enzo to the hospital for emergency rescue, our baby’s heart started beating again, but he was still unconscious,” Yong added.

Despite the medical team’s efforts, Enzo remained unconscious. Yong detailed how Enzo “fought hard” to hang on before his heart ultimately stopped beating. The pain of the loss was palpable in her words, as she asked her followers and the public not to spread rumors or exaggerate the story surrounding her son’s death. “Please let baby Enzo leave the world peacefully,” she concluded.

In addition to her post, Yong shared a pair of videos of the toddler, capturing moments that highlighted his joyful spirit. The tragic incident has sparked an outpouring of sympathy and support from her followers and the broader community.

Jasmine Yong, known for her presence on social media, often shared glimpses of her life, including moments with her son, Enzo. The tragic loss of Enzo has not only left a void in her life but has also resonated deeply with her followers, many of whom have expressed their condolences and support.

Enzo's death has raised awareness about the importance of child safety in public and private spaces. It underscores the need for vigilant supervision and safety measures to prevent such heart-wrenching accidents.

The family is currently grieving and has requested privacy during this incredibly difficult time. The influencer's social media presence has been a source of inspiration and joy for many, and her followers are now rallying around her, offering their support and condolences as she navigates this unimaginable loss.

Enzo’s memory will undoubtedly live on through the heartfelt messages and memories shared by his family and those who were touched by his life, however brief. Yong has also taken this moment to emphasize the critical need for improved safety protocols in hotels and other places frequented by families with young children. She hopes that by sharing her story, other parents will be more aware and proactive in ensuring their children’s safety in similar environments.

This tragedy has highlighted the often-overlooked dangers that can exist even in seemingly safe places and has started conversations about potential improvements in hotel safety standards. Jasmine Yong's brave sharing of her personal loss serves as both a memorial to her beloved son and a cautionary tale for other families, stressing the importance of constant vigilance when it comes to the safety of young children.

The incident has also prompted discussions on social media about the responsibility of hotels to ensure the safety of their youngest guests. Many followers have expressed their concern and called for stricter regulations and safety checks to prevent such tragedies in the future. Yong's openness about the incident aims to create a safer environment for children everywhere by urging parents and hotel management to be more vigilant and proactive in their safety measures.
