Get prepared, Arizona, because an Easter weekend storm is on its way!

As Saturday night unfolds, rain and snow will begin to blanket various parts of the state, persisting through Easter Sunday. Late Saturday evening through Monday morning, portions of the high country and the Mogollon Rim will be under Winter Storm Watches. Heavy snowfall combined with gusty winds may significantly reduce visibility and disrupt travel plans. With road travel and outdoor Easter activities potentially impacted, it's wise to prepare for the storm and devise backup plans.

Saturday is shaping up to be gusty and dusty across the entire Grand Canyon State:

Wind Advisories are in place for all of Arizona, with gusts expected to range between 45-55 mph statewide. Here in the Valley, gusts could exceed 45 mph, bringing with them areas of blowing dust and hazy conditions. If you suffer from respiratory issues, it's advisable to limit your outdoor activities in the afternoon.

Rain and snow showers are expected to linger into Monday morning, with an increased chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Initial forecasts suggest the Valley could receive between half an inch to an inch of rain. Up north, the snow level will drop to approximately 5,500 feet, with some areas along the Mogollon Rim, including Flagstaff, potentially accumulating eight to twelve inches of snow.

As the storm rolls in, temperatures will take a dive. Valley highs on Easter are expected to plummet into the mid-60s, marking a departure of 15 to 20 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Fortunately, the storm is anticipated to clear out of Arizona by Tuesday, with Valley temperatures rebounding to the low 80s by Wednesday. Be sure to stay updated with weather advisories and make necessary preparations to ensure your safety and comfort during this impactful weather event
