A tragic accident involving a tractor-trailer on I-75 northbound in Tampa claimed the life of a woman on Saturday evening, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at around 6:45 p.m. near mile marker 256, close to the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway exit. A 30-year-old Deltona woman was driving northbound when she lost control of her vehicle, crashing into the median guardrail and concrete wall. Her car then spun across three lanes and into the path of a tractor-trailer, which couldn't avoid the collision. The impact pushed her vehicle into an additional barrier wall on the outer shoulder.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, rushing the injured woman to a nearby hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries shortly after.

The Florida Highway Patrol identified the truck driver as a 28-year-old man from Des Moines, Iowa. Although he was not physically injured, he was understandably shaken by the incident.

Investigators are working to determine the precise cause of the crash and have urged anyone who witnessed the event to come forward with information that could assist the investigation.
