Dr Disrespect, a former leading figure on Twitch boasting over 4 million followers, has broken his silence regarding the circumstances surrounding his abrupt ban from the platform in 2020. In a recent statement on X, he disclosed that his channel was deactivated due to inappropriate messages he exchanged with a minor in 2017.

Known off-stream as Herschel “Guy” Beahm, the streamer admitted to utilizing Twitch’s private messaging system, or “whispers,” for communications that he now acknowledges were inappropriate. Despite this acknowledgment, he adamantly denied any criminal intent or behavior beyond these messages, affirming that no illegal activities, images, or physical meetings transpired. Notably, Beahm clarified that he has never faced criminal charges in relation to these incidents.

The controversy unfolded publicly following allegations from Cody Conners, a former Twitch employee, posted on X implicating Beahm without explicitly naming him. Conners asserted that Beahm’s ban stemmed from inappropriate communications with a minor via Twitch’s whisper feature and alleged attempts to arrange a meeting at TwitchCon.

Initially denying the allegations and asserting his exoneration from legal wrongdoing, Beahm faced escalating consequences when Midnight Society, the gaming studio he co-founded in 2021, announced severance of their ties with him. Co-founder Robert Bowling unequivocally condemned any misconduct involving minors, cementing the studio’s decision.
