Javien Toviano, a sophomore cornerback at Louisiana State University, was arrested on Sunday and charged with video voyeurism, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. Toviano, aged 19, is accused of surreptitiously recording himself engaging in sexual activity with his girlfriend without her consent.

The arrest warrant reveals that Toviano allegedly utilized a clock embedded with a hidden camera to secretly capture intimate moments between himself and his girlfriend. This covert recording was conducted without the victim’s knowledge or permission. The concealed camera, disguised as a clock, was reportedly placed on the couple’s dresser prior to their bedtime, allowing Toviano to record them discreetly.

The victim reported to law enforcement that she had previously confronted Toviano regarding these recordings, but he refused to engage in any discussion about the matter. She also disclosed that this incident was part of a troubling pattern; Toviano had recorded their sexual activity on multiple occasions despite her clear objections and lack of consent.

During a subsequent interview with authorities, Toviano admitted to using the hidden camera within the clock to record the footage. He acknowledged that these recordings were made without his girlfriend's consent. Such admissions, if substantiated, constitute a serious breach of privacy laws and ethical standards concerning consent.

If convicted of these charges, Toviano faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison. Additionally, he would be mandated to register as a sex offender, in accordance with state legislation governing such offenses.

In response to Toviano’s arrest, LSU has suspended him from all team-related activities in accordance with the university’s departmental policies. The university issued a statement confirming the suspension while withholding further details to respect the ongoing legal proceedings. The statement read, “The student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies. We will not have further comment out of respect for the legal process.”

Toviano, who is majoring in mechanical engineering, joined LSU as a freshman last year. During his inaugural season, he participated in all 13 games, starting in three of the final five contests. His promising career and academic pursuits are now overshadowed by these serious allegations, which could have profound and lasting implications for his future both on and off the field.
