In a startling and tragic development early Monday, a disturbing incident unfolded at The Shoal La Jolla Beach hotel in California involving Aaron Tran, a 23-year-old hotel desk clerk. San Diego police confirmed that Tran's body was recovered from San Diego Bay, bearing apparent self-inflicted wounds.

The sequence of events began when Tran checked two guests into their hotel room without incident. Later, he contacted them, alleging a water leak required urgent access to their room. Once inside, Tran handed his phone to one of the women, displaying a threatening message on the screen. Startled, she looked up to find Tran wielding a knife. In a terrifying encounter, he stabbed her in the upper chest before she and her companion managed to escape. The injured woman received medical treatment and was subsequently discharged from the hospital.
