Getting anywhere from Rio Verde means Rio Verde Drive, Dynamite Boulevard or McDowell Mountain Road, long roads through open desert. Gravel shoulders and passing traffic put stones in the air.
Water haulers have been running to the nearby Rio Verde Foothills since Scottsdale ended its supply there in 2023. Heavy trucks and the dirt roads around the Foothills bring extra grit onto the pavement.
Out here, a carport is about the only shade a car gets. A windshield soaking up that sun all day is more likely to crack from a chip it already has.
