Arizona's $0 glass coverage, explained
Full glass coverage, rate protection, and your legal right to pick your own shop — the three Arizona statutes every driver with a cracked windshield should know.
Three laws, one result: you're protected
Arizona's desert highways, gravel trucks, and monsoon debris make it one of the heaviest glass-damage states in the country — and Arizona law responded with some of the strongest glass-coverage protections anywhere. Here's what's on the books.
A.R.S. § 20-264
Zero-deductible full glass — insurers must offer it
Every insurer selling comprehensive coverage in Arizona must offer you, at your option, coverage for the repair or replacement of your vehicle's safety glass with NO deductible. It's an add-on you choose when you buy or renew your policy — if you carry it, your windshield replacement is $0 out of pocket.
A.R.S. § 20-263
A not-at-fault claim can't raise your premium
Arizona insurers may not increase your premium because of an accident or claim you were not at fault for. A rock thrown up by I-10 traffic is not your fault — which is why a comprehensive glass claim is one of the safest claims you can file.
A.R.S. § 20-469
You choose the glass shop — by law
Arizona gives you the right to choose any glass repair facility for a motor vehicle glass loss. If your insurer recommends one of their network shops, the same statute requires them to tell you, at the same time, that the choice is yours.
The fine print that matters: full glass is an option you add
Arizona's $0-deductible glass isn't automatic — it's an option your insurer is required to offer with comprehensive coverage. Many Arizona drivers carry it (often for a few dollars a month) without remembering they added it. Not sure? We check it with you in about two minutes before any work is scheduled, free. And if you don't carry it, you'll get an honest self-pay quote instead of a surprise.

Arizona glass insurance FAQs
Is windshield replacement free in Arizona?
It can be $0 out of pocket — if your auto policy includes full glass coverage. Under A.R.S. § 20-264, every insurer that sells comprehensive coverage in Arizona must offer you the option of full safety-glass coverage with no deductible. If you added that option (many Arizona drivers have, and it's often only a few dollars a month), your windshield replacement is covered with nothing out of pocket. If you only carry standard comprehensive, your normal deductible applies.
Will a glass claim raise my insurance rates in Arizona?
Arizona law (A.R.S. § 20-263) prohibits insurers from raising your premium because of a claim you were not at fault for — and a rock chip from a passing truck is the textbook example. Glass claims are filed under comprehensive coverage, not collision, and are treated as not-at-fault events.
Can my insurance company make me use their glass shop?
No. Under A.R.S. § 20-469 ("Motor vehicle loss; choice of glass repair facility"), you have the right to choose any glass repair facility. If your insurer recommends a shop, the law requires them to tell you — at the same time — that the choice is yours.
Does full glass coverage include door glass, back glass, and sunroofs?
Arizona's full glass option covers the safety glass on your vehicle, which is broader than windshield-only laws in some other states. Exactly what your policy includes depends on its wording — when you book with us, we confirm your coverage before any work so there are no surprises.
Is ADAS camera calibration covered by insurance?
When your windshield replacement is a covered claim, the recalibration of the forward-facing camera and driver-assist sensors that the replacement requires is part of completing that repair correctly, and is typically part of the claim. We perform and document calibration to OEM specifications on every windshield that needs it.
What if I don't have full glass coverage?
You have two options: use standard comprehensive (your deductible applies), or self-pay — we'll give you a clear, no-pressure quote for your exact vehicle and glass. You can also add the full glass option to your policy for the future; your insurer is required to offer it.
