Glass beyond the windshield

  1. Door and side windows

    A broken side window is replaced right where the car is, at home in Little Havana or at work Downtown. The loose glass is vacuumed out of the door and the cabin first. Florida’s windshield deductible law covers the windshield only, so this goes under your policy’s deductible.

  2. Back glass

    New back glass is fitted in your driveway or garage. The defroster grid and any antenna lines are connected and tested before the technician leaves. Wet-season storms make a covered spot the better choice, and the deductible on your policy applies.

  3. Sunroof glass

Plenty of Miami-Dade cars live in tower garages in Brickell, Edgewater and Downtown. Many of those work for us if there is room to open both front doors and enough clearance to carry the glass in, so tell us the building, the level and any loading rules when you book.

Out in Little Havana, Allapattah, Coral Way and Flagami, the driveway in front of the house is usually all we need. Someone with the keys stays nearby until the new windshield is set.

Do I pay a deductible for a windshield in Miami?

What does a new windshield cost in Miami?

That comes down to your car and what sits in the glass: a forward camera, a rain sensor, a heated strip for the wipers or a head-up display. My car has a camera behind the mirror. Can you recalibrate it in Miami?

Usually, yes. If your car’s camera needs recalibrating after the new windshield, we tell you up front, before any work starts. Camera calibration in the same visit is the plan wherever it can be done on site, which needs a level floor and open room in front of the car. A flat level in a Brickell tower garage can do the job if there is space ahead of the bumper. Camera calibration.

Can you replace a windshield in a Brickell or Downtown condo garage?

Often, yes. A building garage gives the glass the cover it needs. Clear it with the front desk or the association first, and tell us the level, the space number and how much headroom there is.

Do you come to Little Havana, Allapattah and the west side?

Yes. Little Havana, Allapattah, Grapeland Heights, Flagami and West Flagler are all part of our Miami route, and so are Wynwood, Little Haiti and the Upper Eastside. Your street is confirmed when you get your quote.

What if it’s pouring when you get there?

The new windshield has to go in on a dry frame. A carport or garage keeps the slot on track; with no cover, we wait for the storm to pass or pick a new time with you.

Can I be stopped for driving with a cracked windshield in Miami?

It can happen. Florida law sets no crack size, but police may stop a car whose condition makes it unsafe. Whether a crack does that depends on the crack. A long crack is hard to see through on the Dolphin in a downpour, so plan the replacement before the next storm. Florida cracked windshield law.
