Why windshields crack here

  1. US 1 and Indian River Boulevard

US 1 carries through traffic along the river, and Indian River Boulevard links it to I-95. Trucks moving between job sites, boat shops and the interstate drop gravel on both.

  2. Boat trailers and work trucks

Edgewater has a boat-building trade and plenty of trailers on the road. Loose gravel in truck beds and debris kicked up by tandem axles can chip a windshield.

  3. Heavy tropical rain

Florida Shores has a long history of flooding in heavy rain. Standing water hides debris, and the same storms bring limbs down on parked cars.
