  1. A new windshield is a reason to aim

    Honda lists windshield replacement, and taking the windshield out and putting it back, among the reasons to aim the multipurpose camera. So do lane keeping or adaptive cruise warning lights.

  2. Static, dynamic, or both

    Depending on the model, the service manual calls for a static aim with targets set in front of the car, a dynamic aim on the road, or both. We follow the steps for your Honda.

  3. Older and newer cameras differ

    The 2022 Civic moved to a single wider-view camera with no front radar. Other Hondas still pair a camera with a radar. Your model and year set the procedure.

What happens during windshield camera calibration.

Lane keeping, automatic emergency braking and similar driver-assist features, known together as ADAS, often depend on a camera behind the mirror that looks through the windshield. New glass shifts that view, and when the carmaker’s procedure calls for it, the camera is calibrated to the new glass.

  1. What the camera runs

    On many cars, the camera behind the mirror helps run lane keeping, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Which of these yours has depends on the model and trim. New glass moves the camera’s view slightly, and calibration aims it again.

    Whether your car’s camera needs calibrating, which method it calls for, and whether that can be done where the car is parked.

Does every Honda need calibration after a new windshield?

Every Honda with a Honda Sensing camera behind the glass does, under Honda’s service information. Cars without the camera don’t. We check your VIN and tell you before booking.

Can you aim the camera at my house?

Often, yes. Where the procedure can be done on site, we aim it in the same visit as the windshield. If your Honda needs a step we can’t do where it’s parked, we tell you before anything is booked.

What if a Honda Sensing light comes on afterwards?
