On the sedans the glass is set into the bodyshell and does not move. Chrysler's cab-forward cars made that pane large and steeply raked, the Concorde especially, while the 300 frames a small, upright window inside a chopped roofline with heavy pillars.

On a convertible the rear window belongs to the roof, not the body. Later Sebring and 200 convertibles offered a heated glass rear window in the soft top and a retractable hardtop option, whose rear glass is a separate part. Older cars in this family may use a flexible window rather than glass.

The Defroster Grid and In-Glass Antenna

The lines across the pane are a resistive circuit printed onto the glass and fed by tabs bonded near its edges. They cannot move to a new pane, so the replacement must be the heated variant with the correct grid. The Rear Wiper

This is what separates Chrysler's vans and hatchbacks from its sedans. On the minivans and the PT Cruiser the wiper works through the liftgate pane, so the replacement must have the spindle hole in the right position. We transfer the arm, reseal the spindle and run the sweep. A carelessly sealed wiper hole is a common cause of a damp cargo floor weeks later.

Sedans: 300, Concorde, 200 and Sebring

Sedan backlights are fixed and adhesive-set, and the differences between them are geometric. The Concorde is a cab-forward car with a long, heavily raked rear window, so a break sends granular glass sliding down the slope, across the whole parcel shelf, into rear speaker grilles and down through the shelf openings into the trunk. The 300 has the opposite shape: an upright pane in a small, thick-pillared aperture, which concentrates the damage but makes access tighter. The 200 and Sebring sedan sit between them.

Convertibles: Sebring, 200 and Prowler

On later Sebring and 200 convertibles with a heated glass rear window in the soft top, the pane is bonded into the top's fabric and the defroster fed through the roof structure. Retractable-hardtop cars use a different rear pane again. The Prowler is its own case: a low-production, aluminium-intensive roadster whose folding top rear window may be flexible rather than glass. Hatchbacks and Coupes: PT Cruiser and Crossfire

The PT Cruiser is a tall retro hatchback with a liftgate pane, a rear wiper and a defroster grid; its near-vertical window and high load floor drop broken glass into the cargo tray and behind the rear seat backs. It was also sold as a convertible, which moves the rear window into a folding top. The Crossfire coupe uses a small, compound-curved boat-tail hatch pane, while the Roadster puts its rear window in a soft top.

SUV: Aspen

The Aspen was Chrysler's full-size body-on-frame SUV and it is glazed like one: a large, deeply tinted liftgate pane with a defroster grid and a rear wiper over a tall cargo area. Where your Aspen's rear glass opens independently of the liftgate, that adds a hinge and latch assembly to inspect and adjust once the pane is set.

Sourcing Glass for a Brand With a Long Discontinued List

Chrysler's current showroom is narrow, but the fleet on the road is not. Concorde, PT Cruiser, Crossfire, Aspen, Sebring, Town & Country, 200, Prowler and 300 are all out of production, so much of the Chrysler rear glass work we do is on vehicles the brand no longer builds. A tempered pane does not break into a few pieces you can pick up by hand. It becomes thousands of small pebbles with real momentum, and Chrysler interiors give them unusually good places to hide. On a minivan the third-row cargo well is a deep sunken bin directly beneath the liftgate opening, so it catches nearly everything, and Stow 'n Go floor compartments swallow the rest. Arizona

Arizona law (A.R.S. 20-264) requires insurers to offer optional no-deductible safety-glass coverage, and that definition reaches windshield, door and window glass. The word that matters is optional. It is coverage a driver has to have elected when the policy was written, and it is never automatic. If you elected it, your rear glass claim may carry no deductible. If not, ordinary comprehensive terms and your normal deductible apply.

Florida

Florida law (Fla. Stat. 627.7288) requires the deductible to be waived for windshield replacement on a policy carrying comprehensive coverage. That statute is windshield-only, and it does not apply to rear glass. A Florida rear window claim on your Chrysler runs under your ordinary comprehensive terms and your normal deductible, and we would rather you hear that from us upfront.
