Jeep back glass

Jeep back glass replacement depends on the body and the top.

We replace Jeep back glass at homes and workplaces around Phoenix and Tucson in Arizona and around Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach in Florida. On a Jeep, the rear window can belong to a hardtop, a pickup cab or a liftgate, and each is ordered differently.

  1. A sliding window in the Gladiator cab

    Every Gladiator hardtop Jeep offered at launch has a manual sliding rear window. If that glass breaks, the replacement has to slide and latch like the original, and we test it before we leave.

  2. Hardtop glass, not the soft top

    Wranglers and Gladiators come with a soft top or one of Jeep’s hardtops. On the Gladiator, the soft top’s rear window comes out on retainers in a track and belongs to the top; the glass we replace is the hardtop’s.

  3. A bigger window on the three-row SUV

    Jeep says the Grand Cherokee L’s lowered beltline gives it an expansive rear window. That glass sits in the liftgate, and we match it by VIN along with whatever is printed or mounted on it.

Most back glass is tempered, so one hit can turn the whole pane into small pieces that end up all over the car. It carries wiring too: the defroster grid and, on many cars, the radio antenna.

    Back glass changes with body style and trim. Your VIN tells us which pane your car came with: defroster grid, antenna lines, privacy tint, a hole for the rear wiper, a brake-light mount or a sliding center panel.

  2. Broken glass vacuumed out

    Tempered glass breaks into small cubes that land on the seats, the rear shelf and the trunk or cargo floor, and slip into the seams. We vacuum where it fell before the new glass goes in.

  3. Defroster and antenna tested

    The defroster grid and any antenna lines are printed on the replacement glass. We connect them to your car’s wiring and test them before we leave.

  4. Lifetime workmanship warranty

    Our workmanship and defects in the glass are covered for as long as you own the vehicle, including leaks, wind noise or loose trim caused by our work.

Can you replace the back glass in a Wrangler hardtop?

Yes. The hardtop can stay on the Jeep while we work. We match the glass to the top you have and reconnect anything wired to it, such as the defroster.

My Gladiator’s sliding rear window broke. Can you fix it?

Yes, we replace it. The new window has to slide and latch the way the old one did, so we check it opens, closes and locks before we go.

Do you replace the rear window on a Jeep soft top?

No. That window slides out of the soft top on retainers and is part of the top, so it’s a top repair. If your Jeep has a hardtop or a liftgate, that back glass is the job we do.

Will insurance pay for Jeep rear glass?

Usually under the comprehensive part of the policy, minus any deductible your policy sets. We check your coverage before booking so you know your share up front.

Why did my Jeep’s back window shatter on its own?

Hardtop and liftgate glass is normally tempered, which keeps a lot of tension locked in. A stone chip at the edge, a slammed liftgate or a hot-to-cold swing can set it off, and sometimes no cause shows. Bag the opening and send us a photo with the VIN.
