Each Polestar carries a forward camera behind the rearview mirror that looks out through the windshield for Pilot Assist and the collision features, with radar low in the front on the Polestar 2. The Polestar 3 also projects a head-up display onto the glass in front of the driver. Polestar even advises against fixing chips in front of the camera: the whole windshield should be replaced instead.

Polestar ADAS calibration after windshield replacement
Every Polestar runs Pilot Assist and its collision features through a forward camera behind the windshield, paired with radar in the lower front on the Polestar 2. Polestar's own manual says that if the windshield is replaced, the camera must be recalibrated by a workshop, so the calibration is planned with the Polestar glass where the procedure can be done on site.

Coverage for Polestar glass replacement
Under Florida comprehensive, a Polestar 2 or Polestar 3 windshield is replaced with the deductible waived. Arizona has every insurer offer full glass coverage, but a Polestar windshield is paid in full only when it is actually on the policy. Before the visit, the Polestar 2 or 3 policy goes through our free coverage check, then filing help, with our invoice going to the insurer.
