What sets Volkswagen glass apart.
A Jetta and an Atlas don’t share a single piece of glass, and two Tiguans can differ too. Driver assistance, sensors and the roof all change the part, so the VIN comes first.
Lane Assist reads through the windshield
On cars with the front camera, Volkswagen’s repair information says it has to be calibrated after a windshield replacement so Lane Assist works as it should. We plan that step from the first call.
Where the glass sits matters
A Volkswagen tech tip notes that a windshield set too far left, right, up or down moves the camera with it, and the calibration may not finish. We center the new glass in the opening before the urethane sets.
Rain sensors on many models
The current Jetta offers rain-sensing wipers. The sensor presses against a pad on the glass, and Volkswagen wants no bubbles or debris between the two, so it goes back on clean.
Three kinds of roof glass
Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport offer a panoramic sunroof. The ID.4 offers a fixed panoramic glass roof with a sunshade underneath, and the panoramic glass roof on the 2025 ID. Buzz is bonded in place. Each is a different part and a different job.

Does a new windshield on my Volkswagen need camera calibration?
