GMC back glass

GMC back glass replacement isn’t one part.

We replace GMC rear glass at homes, yards, job sites and offices in the Phoenix and Tucson areas of Arizona and the Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach areas of Florida. A pickup’s back window and an SUV’s liftgate glass are built very differently.

  1. Sierra power sliders, in pieces

    GM lists the Sierra’s power sliding rear window two ways: the complete window, and the moving center glass alone. Power for the defroster runs through terminals and contacts at the slider, so we check those connections before we pack up.

  2. The Sierra EV’s back glass comes out

    With the MultiPro Midgate, the Sierra EV’s back glass is a removable window that opens the cab to the bed. A replacement has to latch and seal the same way, so we confirm the part by VIN first.

  3. Defroster grids and a drop glass

    GMC’s manuals warn that a razor blade on the inside of the back glass can damage the defroster grid, and on some trucks that grid also warms the mirrors. The Hummer EV SUV adds a power rear drop glass that lowers on its own.

What’s included

Included with every rear window replacement.

Most back glass is tempered, so one hit can turn the whole pane into small pieces that end up all over the car. It carries wiring too: the defroster grid and, on many cars, the radio antenna.

  1. OEM-quality back glass, matched by VIN

    Back glass changes with body style and trim. Your VIN tells us which pane your car came with: defroster grid, antenna lines, privacy tint, a hole for the rear wiper, a brake-light mount or a sliding center panel.

  2. Broken glass vacuumed out

    Tempered glass breaks into small cubes that land on the seats, the rear shelf and the trunk or cargo floor, and slip into the seams. We vacuum where it fell before the new glass goes in.

  3. Defroster and antenna tested

    The defroster grid and any antenna lines are printed on the replacement glass. We connect them to your car’s wiring and test them before we leave.

  4. Lifetime workmanship warranty

    Our workmanship and defects in the glass are covered for as long as you own the vehicle, including leaks, wind noise or loose trim caused by our work.

Only the center of my Sierra’s slider is broken. Is that a separate part?

It can be. GM sells the moving center glass by itself as well as the full sliding window. A photo and your VIN tell us which one your truck needs.

Can you replace the removable back glass on a Sierra EV?

Send your VIN and a photo. Because the window latches into the MultiPro Midgate, we confirm the exact part and how long it takes to arrive before anything is booked.

Is it safe to drive with the back window broken out?

Rear glass is usually tempered, so it falls into small cubes that keep shedding. Brush what you can off the seats, tape plastic over the opening before rain, and send us a photo. We clean the rest up when the new glass goes in.

Will insurance cover GMC back glass?

Usually under the comprehensive part of the policy. Arizona’s optional full glass coverage can include rear glass. In Florida, back glass usually goes under comprehensive with its deductible. We check both with you before booking. How insurance works for auto glass.
