Does a Kia need camera calibration after a new windshield?

Yes, when it has the forward camera. I-CAR’s summary of Kia’s repair procedures says a Kia equipped with a forward-facing camera needs that camera calibrated after the windshield is replaced. We read your VIN first and calibrate in the same visit where it can be done on site.

My Telluride SX-Prestige shows speed on the glass. Is that windshield different?

Yes. The head-up display needs a windshield made for it, and Kia’s procedure also says to calibrate the display if the image looks distorted after the new glass goes in. We order the display version for your VIN and check the image before we leave.

Can someone other than a Kia dealer replace my glass?

Yes. We fit OEM-quality glass matched to your VIN wherever the car is parked. If insurance is paying, your policy and your state set your share, and we go over it with you before the appointment.

How long is the appointment?

Most Kia glass takes about 30–45 minutes to fit. Add time for the camera when the windshield needs it. Your technician tells you when the car is safe to drive.

What sets Kia glass apart, model by model.

Kia changes the glass between trims more than most drivers expect. A Telluride LX and a Telluride SX-Prestige share a body, yet the windshield, the rear door windows and the roof are all different parts.

Camera at the top of the glass
Kia’s spec pages describe the front view camera as attached to the upper part of the inside of the windshield. Lane Keeping Assist comes on every trim of the 2027 Telluride, Sportage, Sorento, Seltos, K5 and Carnival.
Head-up display on the top trim
The 2027 Telluride SX-Prestige has a 12-inch head-up display and the 2027 Carnival SX-Prestige an 11-inch one. The 2026 EV6 offers it on the GT-Line only. A display windshield is a separate part from the plain one.
Acoustic film in the side windows
Sound-absorbing glass is standard in every 2027 Telluride windshield. The front doors get it from the EX up, and the rear doors only on the SX-Prestige trims. That is why we ask which door broke.
Two roofs on the three-row Kias
The Telluride from the SX up and the EV9 Wind, Land and GT-Line use dual sunroofs: a tilt-and-slide panel over the front seats and a fixed panel over the second row. On the Carnival SX and SX-Prestige, Kia says both panels tilt and slide. The EV9 Light trims have a single power sunroof instead.
