What’s built into a Kia back glass replacement.

  1. Defroster lines on the SUVs

    The 2027 Sportage and Niro list a heated rear defroster as standard on every trim. The new glass comes with the grid built in, and we reconnect it before we leave.

  2. A wiper on the liftgate

    Kia’s SUVs carry a rear wiper on the back glass: standard on the Sportage and Niro, and on every Telluride as what Kia calls a hidden rear window washer and wiper.

  3. Privacy tint as built

    Rear privacy glass is standard on the 2027 Sportage, Sorento, Telluride and Niro. A replacement with the same factory tint keeps the back of the car matching.

  4. Heat-blocking back glass on the K5

    On the K5 GT-Line and GT, Kia’s solar control glass covers the windshield, the side windows and the back glass. On those sedans, we match the rear window to that coating.

What’s included

Most back glass is tempered, so one hit can turn the whole pane into small pieces that end up all over the car. It carries wiring too: the defroster grid and, on many cars, the radio antenna.

    Back glass changes with body style and trim. Your VIN tells us which pane your car came with: defroster grid, antenna lines, privacy tint, a hole for the rear wiper, a brake-light mount or a sliding center panel.

  2. Broken glass vacuumed out

    Tempered glass breaks into small cubes that land on the seats, the rear shelf and the trunk or cargo floor, and slip into the seams. We vacuum where it fell before the new glass goes in.

  3. Defroster and antenna tested

    The defroster grid and any antenna lines are printed on the replacement glass. We connect them to your car’s wiring and test them before we leave.

  4. Lifetime workmanship warranty

    Our workmanship and defects in the glass are covered for as long as you own the vehicle, including leaks, wind noise or loose trim caused by our work.

Will my rear defroster work after the new glass goes in?

It should. The defroster grid is part of the new glass, and we reconnect its wiring before we leave. If it doesn’t clear the glass afterward, call (877) 994-5277 and we’ll look at it.

My liftgate glass shattered. Can I still drive the Kia?

Short trips are usually fine once the loose glass is out of the way, but the opening lets in rain, dust and exhaust. Cover it with plastic and tape and keep the hatch shut until we arrive.
