What a Land Rover windshield carries
Many Land Rover windshields are heated, with fine elements in the laminate that clear frost and fog from the whole sheet of glass. On newer Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, Discovery and Defender models, the same windshield holds the camera for Lane Keep Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking, plus a rain and light sensor by the mirror.
Because the heating, camera bracket and tint all vary, the replacement for your Land Rover is chosen from the VIN rather than the model name alone. Getting it right keeps the heated glass working edge to edge and puts the camera back on its intended line.

Lane camera calibration on a Land Rover
Lane Keep Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking on a newer Land Rover depend on the windshield camera, part of the InControl driver assistance features. After a Range Rover, Velar, Discovery or Defender windshield is replaced, that camera is calibrated before those features are relied on, and we plan it alongside the Land Rover windshield appointment.
The calibration runs through a scan tool using the routine for your model, either with an aiming board set ahead of the vehicle or on a drive along clear lane markings. If your parking spot cannot support the routine, you hear the plan from us first.

What a Land Rover windshield quote depends on
A heated Range Rover windshield with the lane camera bracket and rain sensor is one of the pricier Land Rover parts, while an older LR3 pane is simpler. The VIN build and any calibration set the quote.

A Land Rover windshield visit
The VIN decode comes first, then we meet the Land Rover at home or work. The mirror cover, camera shroud and cowl come off, the cracked Range Rover or Discovery windshield is cut out, and the heated replacement is set in urethane with its connectors and camera bracket in place. Calibration follows on camera models where the procedure can be done on site, and the safe drive time is given before we leave.
