Acura back glass

What goes into Acura back glass replacement.

Acura back glass gets replaced in the driveway or the parking lot for owners in the Phoenix and Tucson areas of Arizona and the Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach areas of Florida. A sedan rear window and an SUV tailgate glass are very different parts.

  1. Tempered back glass on the RDX and TLX

    Acura’s press kits list tempered glass in the RDX tailgate and the TLX rear window. When it breaks it comes apart into small pieces across the cargo floor or the back seat, so the cleanup is half the visit.

  2. The MDX washer also cleans the camera

    On the 2022 MDX, the rear window washer switch also sprays the rearview camera. Once the new glass is in, we test the wiper, the washer and the defroster together.

  3. Integra: a liftback, not a trunk

    Acura built the 2023 Integra as a five-door liftback, so its back glass rides in the tailgate rather than above a trunk lid. We order the piece for that tailgate by VIN.

  4. Privacy tint on the ZDX

    Every 2024 ZDX trim lists rear privacy glass. The new back glass comes with the same dark tint so it matches the rest of the rear glass.

Most back glass is tempered, so one hit can turn the whole pane into small pieces that end up all over the car. It carries wiring too: the defroster grid and, on many cars, the radio antenna.

    Back glass changes with body style and trim. Your VIN tells us which pane your car came with: defroster grid, antenna lines, privacy tint, a hole for the rear wiper, a brake-light mount or a sliding center panel.

  2. Broken glass vacuumed out

    Tempered glass breaks into small cubes that land on the seats, the rear shelf and the trunk or cargo floor, and slip into the seams. We vacuum where it fell before the new glass goes in.

  3. Defroster and antenna tested

    The defroster grid and any antenna lines are printed on the replacement glass. We connect them to your car’s wiring and test them before we leave.

My RDX back glass blew out. Can I still drive it?

Tempered tailgate glass keeps shedding pieces after it breaks. Pick out what you can reach, tape plastic across the opening before any rain and send us a photo. We vacuum the cargo area when we fit the new glass.

Do you replace the TLX rear window?

Yes. A TLX rear window has the defroster built in, so we order it by VIN, bond it into the frame and check that the defroster heats before we leave.

Will insurance pay for Acura back glass?
