BMW windshields are specified to the option list
On an equipped BMW, the windshield carries three things at once: the camera for Active Driving Assistant at the top, a bonded rain sensor bracket beside it, and a head-up display area that the projector in the dash shines onto. A 3 Series, an X5 and an iX can each be ordered with or without those options, so the glass has to match the build sheet, not just the model.
We read the VIN to see which options your BMW left the factory with, then check the camera and sensor brackets on the old glass. Ordering by option code keeps the head-up display image sharp and the sensor brackets in the right spots on the new windshield.

BMW camera calibration after a new windshield
BMW's Active Driving Assistant reads lane lines and traffic through a camera at the top of the windshield, so a new pane changes what it sees. On a 3 Series, 5 Series, X3 or X5 with those features, the camera is calibrated after the windshield is installed. Your BMW calibration is planned with the glass appointment, and we say early if it needs its own visit.
Depending on the model, BMW camera calibration uses a target set in front of the car or is completed on a drive along clearly marked roads. Some BMW models finish the camera step on a road drive, and when a garage or driveway cannot host the target, we say so before any glass comes out.

What sets a BMW windshield price
A BMW windshield without options and one with a head-up display, camera and rain sensor are very different parts. The model, the generation and the option codes decide the glass, and camera-equipped cars add a calibration step.
Head-up display
HUD windshields for the 3 Series, X5 and others are pricier than plain BMW glass.
Camera calibration
Active Driving Assistant cars need the camera calibrated after the new glass.
Acoustic and coated glass
Some BMW options add acoustic layers or coatings that change the part number.
Option codes
The VIN's option list decides which BMW windshield fits.
Is a BMW windshield covered in Arizona and Florida?
A 3 Series or X3 insured in Florida with comprehensive coverage has the windshield deductible waived. In Arizona, an X5 or iX is covered for glass in full only if the owner elected the full glass option insurers must offer. Before an X5 or 3 Series windshield is booked, we read the policy with you, help you file and send our bill to the insurer.

Your BMW windshield visit
We confirm your BMW's option codes by VIN and meet you at home or work. The camera cover, sensor housing and mirror come off, the old 3 Series or X5 windshield is cut out, and the new pane is set in urethane with the brackets in their factory spots. Active Driving Assistant is then calibrated where the procedure can be done on site, and you hear when the X5 or 3 Series is ready to drive.
