What a Buick windshield holds
Newer Buicks put a lot behind the windshield. The camera for Buick Driver Confidence features sits behind the rearview mirror, a rain sensor often sits next to it, and every newer Envision plus the Enclave Avenir projects a head-up display onto the glass. Older Buicks like the LaCrosse and Lucerne carry far less, which is why the year matters as much as the model.

Buick camera calibration after a new windshield
Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking and Lane Keep Assist all depend on the Buick windshield camera seeing the road correctly. On an Enclave, Envision, Encore GX or Envista with those features, the camera is calibrated after the glass goes in. The calibration is booked with your Buick windshield, and you hear in advance if it calls for a separate stop.
GM procedures for Buick cameras use either a target board ahead of the car or a road drive along well-painted lanes. If the parking spot cannot support the required step, you hear that from us before any glass comes out.

Is a Buick windshield covered in Arizona and Florida?
Florida comprehensive waives the deductible on an Envision or Encore GX windshield. An Enclave or Envista windshield in Arizona is fully covered only under the full glass option, which insurers must offer and the owner must elect. Buick owners get a free coverage check before the visit, guidance through filing, and our bill goes straight to the insurer.

Your Buick windshield visit
Once the VIN is decoded, we travel to your home or workplace. The mirror, camera cover and sensor housing come off, the old Enclave or Envision windshield is cut out, and the new pane is bonded with its brackets placed exactly as GM set them. Camera calibration follows, and you are told when the Buick is ready to drive.
