Mazda back glass

A Mazda back glass replacement is more than glass.

We replace Mazda rear glass at homes and workplaces around Phoenix and Tucson in Arizona, and around Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach in Florida. The back window carries wiring of its own, so the VIN sets the part.

  1. Heater lines and antenna lines

    Mazda puts the defroster’s heating filaments inside the rear window, and its manuals warn that the inside glass also carries antenna lines. The new glass has both, and we plug them back in.

  2. A wiper on the SUV liftgates

    Mazda’s crossovers carry a rear window wiper on the liftgate glass. It comes off before the old glass is removed and goes back on once the new glass is in.

  3. The Miata’s rear window moves

    On the MX-5 soft top, the rear glass folds down with the top. On the RF, the window glass moves with the roof, and Mazda says to switch the rear defroster off before opening it. We look at a photo and tell you before booking if it’s a job we can do where it’s parked.

Most back glass is tempered, so one hit can turn the whole pane into small pieces that end up all over the car. It carries wiring too: the defroster grid and, on many cars, the radio antenna.

    Back glass changes with body style and trim. Your VIN tells us which pane your car came with: defroster grid, antenna lines, privacy tint, a hole for the rear wiper, a brake-light mount or a sliding center panel.

  2. Broken glass vacuumed out

    Tempered glass breaks into small cubes that land on the seats, the rear shelf and the trunk or cargo floor, and slip into the seams. We vacuum where it fell before the new glass goes in.

  3. Defroster and antenna tested

    The defroster grid and any antenna lines are printed on the replacement glass. We connect them to your car’s wiring and test them before we leave.

  4. Lifetime workmanship warranty

    Our workmanship and defects in the glass are covered for as long as you own the vehicle, including leaks, wind noise or loose trim caused by our work.

My CX-5’s back glass shattered. Is it safe to drive?

Rear glass is usually tempered, so it breaks into small pieces. Clear the loose bits off the seats, keep the cargo area covered and drive gently. Tape plastic over the opening if rain is on the way, then text us a photo or call (877) 994-5277.

Will my rear defroster work after the new glass?

It should. The new back glass comes with its heating lines, and we reconnect the leads and test it before we leave. If it doesn’t warm up later, call (877) 994-5277 and we’ll look at it.

Can you replace the rear glass on my Miata?

Send us a photo first. On the soft top, the glass is part of the folding top. On the RF, it works with the roof. We tell you before booking whether it’s a job we can do where the car is parked.

Does insurance cover Mazda rear glass?

Why did my Mazda’s back window shatter on its own?

Liftgate and back glass is usually tempered, and the tension inside it can let go all at once. A chip near the edge, a hard close of the liftgate or a fast temperature change is often enough, even weeks after the chip. Cover the opening and send a photo with your VIN.
