The MINI two-panel panoramic roof

MINI's panoramic sunroof uses two glass panels. On the Hardtop, Clubman and Countryman, the front panel tilts up or slides back over the fixed rear panel, and the Countryman's version stretches almost the full length of the roof. Newer electric Cooper and Aceman models moved to a fixed glass roof that does not open.

A broken MINI roof panel sheds glass into the tracks, drains and shade. Those are cleared, only the damaged panel is replaced, and an opening panel is run through tilt and slide to check the seal.

A Hardtop front panel, a Countryman rear panel and an Aceman fixed roof are different MINI parts. Which roof and which panel decide the quote.

Inside a MINI roof glass visit

Drop cloths protect the MINI cabin and headliner, the damaged panel comes out, and the tracks, drain tubes and shade are cleaned of glass. The new panel is set level with the roof, the front panel is run through tilt and slide, and water is run through the drains.

Can you replace one panel of a MINI panoramic sunroof?
Yes. MINI's panoramic roof uses a front panel that opens and a fixed rear panel. We replace only the broken one and check the seals and drains around both.
Does the newer electric MINI Cooper have an opening sunroof?
Newer electric Cooper and Aceman models use a fixed glass roof that does not open. If yours is cracked, we order that fixed MINI panel by VIN.
Is the MINI Countryman panoramic roof bigger?
Yes. The Countryman's panoramic roof stretches almost the full length of the roof, so its panels are larger than a Hardtop's. We confirm the generation before ordering.
Does a MINI Convertible have a sunroof?
No. The MINI Convertible has a folding fabric top rather than a glass sunroof. For its glass, see our MINI door and rear glass pages.
Why is my MINI leaking after the sunroof broke?
On a Hardtop or Countryman, slivers of glass can plug the drain tubes at the roof corners and hold the seal open, so rain finds the headliner. Those tubes are flushed, the new MINI panel goes in, and a water test follows.
Will my MINI sunshade work after new roof glass?
Usually. Fragments are brushed off the shade fabric and rails, and the shade is cycled open and shut. A torn shade or bent rail on a Hardtop or Countryman gets flagged before any MINI parts are ordered.
Can you replace the rear panel of a MINI Clubman roof?
Yes. The Clubman's panoramic roof uses a front opening panel and a fixed rear panel. We replace the rear panel on its own and check the drains around it.
Does insurance cover MINI sunroof glass in Arizona or Florida?
Usually through comprehensive, deductible included. Florida's waiver stops at the windshield, and Arizona full glass policies vary on panoramic roofs, so ask for our free coverage check on your Hardtop, Countryman or Clubman when you book.
