Rivian panoramic and Dynamic Glass roofs

Rivian launched the R1S and R1T with a panoramic glass roof as standard. Second-generation models added an optional Dynamic Glass Roof, an electrochromic panel that switches from clear to opaque at the touch of a button, alongside the regular panoramic roof. Many R1S owners also use a shade under the glass to keep the cabin cooler.

A cracked Rivian roof panel is replaced with the same type: standard panoramic glass for a standard roof, or the electrochromic panel for a Dynamic Glass Roof, so the switching still works. The seal and drainage are checked after fitting.

  • Panoramic glass roof

Rivian's standard roof is a large fixed glass panel.

  • Dynamic Glass Roof

Second-generation option that turns opaque at a button.

  • Matching the type

A Dynamic Glass Roof is replaced with the switchable panel.

  • Roof shade

Many R1S owners add a shade under the glass for heat.

What a Rivian roof glass quote depends on

A standard panoramic panel and a Dynamic Glass Roof are very different Rivian parts. The roof type, the model and the generation decide the quote.

  • Standard or Dynamic

The electrochromic Dynamic Glass Roof costs more than standard glass.

  • Model

R1S and R1T roof panels are sized to each body.

  • Generation

Second-generation roofs are checked against the VIN.

  • Shade

A damaged shade is quoted as its own item.

Rivian sunroof coverage in Arizona and Florida

A cracked R1S or R1T glass roof usually lands under comprehensive, deductible and all. Roof glass is not a windshield, so Florida's waiver does not cover it, and in Arizona the Rivian policy's full glass clause may or may not stretch to it. The R1S or R1T policy wording gets read during our free coverage check, then you get help filing.

Inside a Rivian roof glass visit

We cover the Rivian seats and interior, remove the trim around the roof panel and cut the broken glass out along its bond line. The replacement panoramic or Dynamic Glass panel is seated flush with the Rivian roofline, any electrical connection is restored and tested, and the seal is water-checked.

Rivian sunroof glass replacement — common questions

Can you replace a Rivian R1S glass roof?
Yes. The R1S panoramic roof is a large fixed glass panel. We order the panel for your R1S's generation and roof type, bond it in and check the seal.
What is the Rivian Dynamic Glass Roof?
It is an optional electrochromic roof on second-generation R1S and R1T models that switches from clear to opaque at the touch of a button. Earlier R1 models have the standard panoramic roof.
Can a Rivian Dynamic Glass Roof be replaced with standard glass?
It should be replaced with the same electrochromic panel so the switching keeps working. We confirm the roof type on your Rivian by VIN before ordering.
Does the Rivian R1T have a glass roof?
Yes. The R1T has a panoramic glass roof over the cab, and newer builds offer the Dynamic Glass Roof. If yours is cracked, we confirm the part by VIN.
Why does my Rivian get hot under the glass roof?
A large glass roof lets in a lot of sun, which is why many R1S owners add a shade and why Rivian introduced the Dynamic Glass Roof. Replacement glass is matched to your original roof type.
Why is my Rivian leaking after the roof glass cracked?
A crack can break the bond line around the panel, letting water in at the edge. Replacing the panel and resealing it restores the seal, and we water-test it afterward.
Does replacing a Rivian roof affect Driver+?
No. The roof glass is separate from the windshield camera that Driver+ uses, so roof work alone does not call for Driver+ calibration on an R1S or R1T.
Does insurance cover Rivian sunroof glass in Arizona or Florida?
Usually through comprehensive, with the deductible applying. Florida's windshield deductible rule does not reach a glass roof, and Arizona policies treat roofs differently, so the R1S or R1T policy is read in our free coverage check first.
