Inside a Volvo XC90 or XC60 windshield
Every Volvo windshield is laminated, and on an XC90, XC60, XC40 or S60 it also hosts the camera and radar unit that City Safety uses to spot cars, cyclists and pedestrians. Volvos with a head-up display project speed and navigation onto the glass, and many builds add a rain sensor and a heated wiper rest area along the bottom edge.

City Safety calibration on a Volvo
Volvo states that the camera and radar unit must be calibrated after a windshield is replaced on any car equipped with it. City Safety, Pilot Assist and Lane Keeping Aid all depend on that unit on the XC90, XC60, XC40, S60 and V60, so we book the calibration together with your Volvo windshield.
Left uncalibrated, many Volvos show a City Safety or driver support service message. The calibration runs through a scan tool with the routine Volvo specifies for the model, and if it needs conditions your parking spot cannot give, we tell you ahead of time.

What changes a Volvo windshield quote
An XC90 windshield with HUD, heated wiper rest and the camera bracket and an older S40 pane sit far apart in price. The build on the VIN and the required calibration shape the Volvo quote.

Under Florida comprehensive, an XC60 or S60 windshield is replaced with the deductible waived. Arizona has every insurer offer a full glass option, and a Volvo windshield is paid in full when the XC90 or XC60 owner took it. A Volvo windshield visit
The VIN decode comes first, then we meet the Volvo at home or work. The cowl, mirror cover and camera unit trim are removed, the old XC90 or S60 windshield is cut out, and the laminated replacement goes into urethane with its brackets where Volvo set them. City Safety calibration follows where the procedure can be done on site, and the safe drive time is given before we leave.
