Audi back glass
What to expect from an Audi back window replacement.
We replace Audi rear glass at homes and workplaces in the Phoenix and Tucson areas of Arizona and the Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach areas of Florida. The defroster runs through that glass, and on the SUVs and Avants it shares the hatch with the wiper.
01
The defroster has a heat limit
Audi’s bulletin for several recent models, the A4, A5, Q7, Q8 and e-tron among them, says the rear defogger only runs below 95°F with the engine on. On a summer afternoon in Phoenix or Tampa, a button that won’t stay lit can be that limit at work, not a fault in the new glass.
02
A blinking defog button can be software
On some newer Audis, Audi traced a defog button that lights for a second and then goes out to a control module that needed new software. If that happens after our install, we check the glass connections with you first, and a dealer handles a software update.
03
Hatch glass on the Q models and Avants
On an SUV or wagon, the back glass usually sits in the liftgate under a rear wiper. The wiper arm comes off for the job and goes back on once the new glass is set.

How it works
Shattered glass out, new back glass in.
Send us a photo. Text a picture of the damage, call, or fill in the year and model online. From the VIN we pull the matching pane, its tint and its plugs. Using insurance? We review your policy with you and help you file your claim.
Pieces cleared, glass set.Mon–Sat at your place, the old glass is cut and picked from the opening, the trunk or cargo floor is vacuumed, and new OEM-quality back glass is bonded in.
Wiper back on, connections checked. The defroster leads are plugged back in and the rear wiper refitted. Bonded glass needs time to set, and your technician tells you when it’s safe to drive.
I had a fantastic experience with Bang AutoGlass! They recently replaced the glass on my car, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Daniela was absolutely amazing—she went above and beyond to find me an appointment as soon as possible.

Most back glass is tempered, so one hit can turn the whole pane into small pieces that end up all over the car. It carries wiring too: the defroster grid and, on many cars, the radio antenna.
01
OEM-quality back glass, matched by VIN
Back glass changes with body style and trim. Your VIN tells us which pane your car came with: defroster grid, antenna lines, privacy tint, a hole for the rear wiper, a brake-light mount or a sliding center panel.
02
Broken glass vacuumed out
Tempered glass breaks into small cubes that land on the seats, the rear shelf and the trunk or cargo floor, and slip into the seams. We vacuum where it fell before the new glass goes in.
03
Defroster and antenna tested
The defroster grid and any antenna lines are printed on the replacement glass. We connect them to your car’s wiring and test them before we leave.
04
Lifetime workmanship warranty
Our workmanship and defects in the glass are covered for as long as you own the vehicle, including leaks, wind noise or loose trim caused by our work.
We only work in Arizona and Florida: the Phoenix and Tucson areas, and the Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach areas. Each city page below shows the places we come to.
Not sure what you need? Text a photo of the back glass to (877) 350-5962, or call (877) 994-5277, answered 24/7.

My Audi’s rear defroster won’t turn on after the new glass. Is it broken?
Not always. Audi says the rear defogger on several recent models only runs below 95°F with the engine on, so try it again once it cools down. If it still won’t work, call (877) 994-5277 and we’ll check the connections with you.
02
My Q5’s back glass shattered. Can I still drive it?
Drive it only if you must. Broken tempered glass keeps shedding small pieces from the frame, so tape plastic across the gap, keep bags and seats covered against rain, and text us a picture. The cleanup is part of our visit.
03
Does insurance pay for Audi back glass?
Usually through comprehensive. Arizona drivers who chose the full glass option can have back glass included. Florida drivers should plan on the comprehensive deductible. Either way, we go through the policy with you and give you your share up front. How insurance works for auto glass.
04
How much is Audi rear glass?
It depends on the model and body style and on what the glass carries: the defroster, privacy tint, and on an SUV or Avant, the wiper. The quote is free, and you see the full price before anything is booked.
05
How long does it take to replace an Audi rear window?
It’s one visit where the car is parked. The time depends mostly on how much glass fell into the cargo area or trunk, since all of it gets vacuumed out, and on a Q model or Avant the rear wiper comes off and goes back on. Your technician tells you when it’s ready.
