What sits in an Audi windshield
Audi builds a lot into its windshields. The forward camera for Audi pre sense and lane assist is mounted behind the mirror, a rain and light sensor sits beside it, and many A4, A6, Q5 and Q7 windshields use acoustic laminated glass. Cars ordered with a head-up display need glass made for the projected image, so two Audis of the same model and year can take different windshields.

Audi camera calibration after a new windshield
Audi pre sense front watches for collisions and lane assist reads lane markings through the forward camera, so a new windshield shifts what the camera sees. On an A3, A4, Q5 or Q7 with those systems, the camera is calibrated after installation. We plan the Audi calibration together with the glass and tell you early if it calls for a second visit.
Audi's procedure has the car on level ground in front of a patterned target board, with a diagnostic tool connected. If the space at your appointment cannot meet that, we say so before any glass is removed.

What an Audi windshield costs depends on
An A3 windshield with a camera and an A6 or Q7 pane with acoustic glass, a head-up display and a sensor bracket are priced far apart. The VIN decides the part, and pre sense cars add the camera step.

Is an Audi windshield covered in Arizona and Florida?
Florida waives the comprehensive deductible on a windshield, so an A4 or Q5 owner there usually has it covered. Arizona is different, since a Q7 or A6 windshield there is fully covered only through the full glass option, an election insurers are required to offer. An Audi owner gets a free coverage check on the A4, Q5 or Q7 policy before booking, then filing guidance from us while we bill the insurer.

Your Audi windshield visit
After decoding the VIN, we come to your home or office. The camera cover, rain sensor and mirror are removed, the old A4 or Q5 windshield is cut out, and the new glass is bonded with each bracket in its factory spot. Calibration of the forward camera follows where the procedure can be done on site, and you are told when the Audi is ready to drive.
