Where Genesis quarter glass sits

Every Genesis SUV has a stationary window aft of each back door, and that pane is what we mean by quarter glass. The GV80 uses a long pane that runs toward the liftgate, the GV80 Coupe reshapes it under its sloping roof, and the GV70 and GV60 tuck a smaller pane into the rear pillar. On the G70, G80 and G90, any small pane near the back of the cabin is part of the rear door, ordered with it.

Genesis SUV quarter windows are held by urethane, not hardware. The broken one is cut out, the flange is primed, and the replacement is pressed in so its trim follows the Genesis body line.

  • GV70 pillar pane

What a Genesis quarter glass quote depends on

A GV80 rear side window and a GV60 pillar pane are different Genesis parts. The model, the side and any trim fused to the glass decide the quote.

  • Model

GV80 and GV80 Coupe quarter glass are not interchangeable.

  • Pane size

The GV80's long window is a larger part than a GV70 pane.

  • Fused trim

Panes with trim molded around the edge are replaced whole.

  • Shade

A GV80 side pane only looks right in its factory dark shade.

Genesis quarter glass coverage in Arizona and Florida

A GV80 or GV70 quarter window is side glass and goes through comprehensive. In the Phoenix and Tucson areas, a Genesis policy with full glass coverage pays it in full. Florida's waiver is written for windshields, so a Genesis owner near Orlando or Fort Myers usually pays the deductible on this window. We check the policy at no charge in a free coverage check and help you file.

Replacing Genesis quarter glass

Drop cloths cover the rear seat and paint, the GV80 or GV70 pillar trim is unclipped, and the broken window is sliced out of its urethane. Cubes of glass come out of the cargo well and seat rails, the pinch weld gets primer, and the new Genesis pane cures in place.

Genesis quarter glass replacement — common questions

Can you replace the rear side glass on a Genesis GV80?
Yes. The GV80's long quarter window behind the rear door is glued into the body. Once the side and year are confirmed by VIN, we cut out the broken one and set the replacement in fresh urethane.
Is Genesis GV80 Coupe quarter glass different from the GV80?
Yes. The GV80 Coupe has a lower, sloping roof, so its quarter glass has a different shape. The VIN tells us which of the two Genesis bodies you drive.
Do you replace Genesis GV70 quarter glass?
Yes. The GV70 has a smaller fixed window in its rear pillar. We confirm the side and year, bond in the new Genesis pane and check that the trim sits flush.
Can you replace the rear pillar glass on a Genesis GV60?
Yes. The GV60's rear pillar window is shaped to the electric crossover's body. We order the side you need by VIN and fit it with fresh urethane.
Is Genesis quarter glass tinted?
On the SUVs, yes. The GV80, GV70 and GV60 carry dark quarter glass that matches their back doors, so the replacement comes in the same Genesis shade instead of a lighter pane that would stand out.
Why did my Genesis quarter window shatter?
It is tempered glass, so a stone, a break-in or body flex from a minor knock can shatter it into small cubes. We clear those out of the cargo area and seat tracks before fitting the new window.
When can I drive my Genesis after quarter glass replacement?
Once the urethane has cured enough to hold the window in place. We tell you the time for that adhesive and the weather on the day before handing back the Genesis.
Does insurance cover Genesis quarter glass in Arizona or Florida?
Usually through comprehensive. A GV80 insured in Arizona with full glass coverage is paid in full. In Florida, the deductible stays on side glass like this, because that waiver is about windshields. Ask for our free coverage check before ordering.
