Tesla Insurance windshield replacement Arizona and Florida

We're a mobile auto glass shop serving Arizona and Florida. Tell us you're insured with Tesla Insurance and we'll verify your coverage, handle the claim paperwork, and come to you — usually next-day.

Tesla Insurance policies show up in our work almost entirely in Arizona, and almost every one is attached to a late-model Tesla — which means a camera-based driver-assist system that has to be recalibrated after the glass comes out. Here is exactly how the claim and the replacement work.

Start the claim in the Tesla app, not on the phone

Tesla Insurance handles its own claims directly. There is no third-party glass administrator sitting between you and the policy, which means there is no referral number or dispatch number for you to chase down before anyone can touch your car. Per Tesla's published claims process, you file a glass-only claim in the Tesla app, and you do not have to wait for a claims representative to contact you before you start the claim or request glass service.

Inside that claim there is a section called Find a Repair Facility. That is where you enter the name and contact information for the shop you want to do the work. Enter Bang AutoGlass there. This is the step most people skim past, and it is the one that matters — it is the mechanism by which you exercise your right to choose. In both Arizona and Florida, the driver chooses their own glass shop. Tesla's own process is built to accept that choice; you just have to fill in the field.

Tesla also publishes how the money works on a covered glass-only claim: your cost equals your comprehensive deductible or the actual cost of the service, whichever is less. Ask about that when you file, because the deductible question in Arizona has a wrinkle worth understanding.

What Arizona law actually says about your deductible

Arizona law (A.R.S. 20-264) requires insurers to offer optional no-deductible safety-glass coverage. Read that carefully, because it is widely misquoted. It is an offer requirement, not an entitlement. The no-deductible treatment applies only if you elected that optional coverage when you bought or renewed the policy. If you elected it, your glass claim is handled without the comprehensive deductible applying. If you did not, your normal comprehensive deductible applies to the replacement.

You do not have to guess. Your Tesla Insurance policy documents are in the app, and the glass or safety-glass endorsement will be listed there. Check before you file so you know what you are walking into. We will tell you the same thing on the phone: confirm the endorsement, then schedule.

If your Tesla is registered and garaged in Florida instead, a different rule governs. Florida law (Fla. Stat. 627.7288) requires insurers to waive the deductible for windshield replacement when the policy includes comprehensive coverage. That statute covers the windshield only — it does not extend to door glass, quarter glass, rear glass or a sunroof.

Every Tesla we replace is an ADAS job

This is the single biggest difference between a Tesla glass claim and a generic one. Tesla's driver-assist system is camera-based, and the forward-facing camera cluster lives in a housing mounted at the top of the windshield. When the glass comes out, that camera relationship comes apart. When the new glass goes in, the cameras have to be recalibrated before the car's driver-assist features can be trusted again.

We do not treat recalibration as an add-on discovered halfway through the install. On a Tesla it is assumed. We scope it into the job when you book, and the vehicle is not finished until the calibration is confirmed. Tell us the model and the approximate build year when you call so the right glass and the right camera housing are on the van the first time.

A few Tesla-specific details that change how the work gets scheduled:

  • Camera hardware varies by build. Tesla has revised the forward camera assembly across production years. Two cars that look identical in a parking lot can take different glass. Build year matters more than model year.
  • Model Y and Model 3 windshields are large, single, deeply raked panes that sweep far back over the cabin. They are heavy and awkward, and they are set with a bonded structural urethane — the glass is part of how the body holds together, not a cover over a hole.
  • Acoustic and infrared-reflective layers are common on these vehicles. Substituting plain laminated glass changes cabin noise and heat load. We match what came out.
  • Sensor and bracket transfer. Rain and light sensing, the mirror mount and the camera bracket all have to come across cleanly and seat correctly, or the calibration will not settle.

We come to you, and we replace — we do not repair

Bang AutoGlass is 100% mobile. There is no shop for you to drive to and no lobby to sit in. We come to your driveway, your office lot or wherever the car is parked, and in most cases we are there the next day.

We only do full replacements. We do not offer chip or rock-chip repair. Tesla's process does include a path for reimbursing a repair rather than a replacement, so if your damage is a small chip and you would rather have it filled, that is a legitimate route — it is just not the service we provide. If the crack is spreading, if it crosses your line of sight, or if it runs into the camera's field of view at the top of the glass, replacement is the answer anyway.

Arizona heat is part of the job

Since these policies land almost entirely in Arizona, most of these installs happen in real heat. Two things follow from that. First, cracks grow fast here — a Tesla parked in direct sun builds enormous thermal stress across a large windshield, and a chip that was stable in the spring can run the width of the glass in one afternoon. Do not sit on it. Second, urethane behavior changes with temperature, so there is a safe drive-away window after the install. We will tell you what it is for your vehicle and conditions before we leave. Until then, leave a window cracked, avoid slamming doors, and skip the car wash for a couple of days.

What to have ready

Your Tesla Insurance claim number from the app, the VIN, the model and build year, and whether you elected optional safety-glass coverage on the policy. Where the car will be parked and whether it is covered. That is genuinely all of it — from there we confirm the glass and camera hardware, book the visit, and handle the invoicing with Tesla Insurance directly so you are not forwarding paperwork back and forth.

How a Tesla Insurance glass claim works

  1. 1. You call or book online. Tell us it's a Tesla Insurance policy and give us your vehicle, the damage, and where you want us to meet you.
  2. 2. We verify your coverage — free. We confirm what your policy actually covers before anything is scheduled, so there are no surprises.
  3. 3. We handle the claim paperwork. We file it and walk you through anything Tesla Insurance needs from you directly.
  4. 4. We come to you. Home, work, or roadside — most jobs take 30–45 minutes, plus recalibration where your vehicle needs it.

Tesla Insurance claims in Arizona

Arizona gives you three protections worth knowing before you file. Under A.R.S. § 20-264, every insurer selling comprehensive coverage in Arizona — Tesla Insurance included — must offer you a zero-deductible full safety-glass option. If you carry it, your windshield replacement is $0 out of pocket. Under A.R.S. § 20-263, an insurer may not raise your premium over an accident you did not cause — the normal treatment for glass damage from road debris. And under A.R.S. § 20-469, the choice of glass shop is yours — not your insurer's.

We serve the Valley and beyond: Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Glendale, and every Arizona city we serve. Full detail on state coverage rules is on our Arizona insurance guide.

Tesla Insurance claims in Florida

Florida is the strongest windshield state in the country for drivers. Under Fla. Stat. § 627.7288, an auto policy with comprehensive coverage must replace your windshield with no deductible — so a Tesla Insurance comprehensive policy generally means $0 out of pocket on a windshield replacement. The statute covers windshield replacement specifically; door, quarter, rear, and sunroof glass follow your normal deductible.

We serve Tampa Bay, Orlando, Miami, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and cities across Florida. The full statute breakdown is on our Florida windshield law page.

Where we come to you

Tesla Insurance glass claims — common questions

Do I need a referral or dispatch number before Bang can replace my Tesla's windshield?+

No. Tesla Insurance handles its glass claims directly rather than routing them through a third-party glass administrator, so there is typically no referral or dispatch number to obtain first. You file a glass-only claim in the Tesla app and, per Tesla's published process, you do not have to wait for a claims representative to contact you before requesting glass service. Inside the claim, use the "Find a Repair Facility" section to enter Bang AutoGlass as your chosen shop. In both Arizona and Florida, the driver chooses their own glass shop.

Will my deductible be waived on a Tesla Insurance windshield claim in Arizona?+

Only if you elected the optional coverage. Arizona law (A.R.S. 20-264) requires insurers to offer optional no-deductible safety-glass coverage — it is an offer requirement, not an automatic benefit. If you elected that coverage when you bought or renewed, the deductible does not apply to the glass claim; if you did not, your comprehensive deductible applies. Check your policy documents in the Tesla app before you file. If your Tesla is instead registered in Florida, Florida law (Fla. Stat. 627.7288) requires insurers to waive the deductible for windshield replacement when the policy includes comprehensive coverage — windshield only, not door, quarter, rear or sunroof glass.

Does my Tesla need camera recalibration after the windshield is replaced?+

Yes. Tesla's driver-assist system is camera-based, and the forward-facing camera assembly is mounted at the top of the windshield. Removing and replacing the glass disturbs that relationship, so recalibration is a required part of the job rather than an optional extra. We scope it in when you book and the vehicle is not considered finished until calibration is confirmed. Because Tesla has revised the camera assembly across production years, give us the model and approximate build year when you call so the correct glass and camera housing arrive on the first visit.

Do I file the Tesla Insurance claim myself?+

You don't have to. Tell us it's a Tesla Insurance policy when you book and we handle the claim paperwork and walk you through the filing — that's included, not an add-on. Have your policy number and the date the damage happened handy and we take it from there.

Will a glass claim raise my Tesla Insurance premium?+

Glass claims are filed under comprehensive coverage and are normally treated as not-at-fault events — a rock thrown up by a passing truck isn't something you caused. Arizona law (A.R.S. § 20-263) bars an insurer from raising your premium as a result of an accident you did not cause or significantly contribute to. Rating practices vary by carrier and policy, so if this is a concern, ask Tesla Insurance directly how a comprehensive glass claim is treated on your policy.

How fast can you replace my windshield?+

Next-day appointments are typically available across Arizona and Florida, and we come to you — home, work, or roadside. Booking is open 24/7 online or by phone at (877) 994-5277. We confirm your exact window once we've verified your glass and your Tesla Insurance coverage.
